Books, like buildings, are intergenerational objects. I strive for the longest shelf life possible in my designs since I see the role of a book designer as being similar to the role of an architect. The form of the book should authentically represent the author's unique vision in the most clear, beautiful, and enduring way possible.

I have seventeen years of publishing experience working in-house, freelance, and in a consulting capacity with various publishers, including book and cover design, typesetting, domestic and international print-buying, project management, and consulting for museum co-publications and special projects.
Bio
My hometown of El Paso, Texas fostered an appreciation for mountains, negative space, and outsiders. Since then, I've lived all over the U.S. while working for various publishers. Currently, I am happily serving as the Yale University Press Art Director, where I've been on staff since December of 2019. Outside of publishing, I enjoy spending time with my wife and three young children outdoors exploring New England.
